First National celebrates Asian Heritage Month
For a quarter century, Canada has officially recognized May as Asian Heritage Month, celebrating the significant contributions of peoples of Asian origin to the history and culture of our country. This year, First National joined in with Filipino Fiesta, a special tribute to our large Filipino community.
May 27th started with floral decorating to commemorate Flores de Mayo, a celebration rooted in faith, identity and community. With 10 talented teams decorating unique centerpieces, our Toronto office took on a distinctly festive atmosphere, perfect for our delicious Taste of the Philippines luncheon catered by Tagpuan, specialists in traditional Filipino dishes, or ulam.
From there, the stage was set for a competitive round of karaoke, a national pastime in the Philippines that was wholeheartedly embraced by the musically talented among us. We also held an Asian Heritage trivia contest.
Through these very special events, our team demonstrated that embracing our unique cultures and celebrating our differences is very much in our nature as a proudly inclusive Canadian company.
