Diwali, the five-day festival of light, was celebrated by over a billion people worldwide this year, including, we’re proud to say, many members of the First National team.

Diwali, the five-day festival of light, was celebrated by over a billion people worldwide this year, including, we’re proud to say, many members of the First National team.

Thanks to the inspired planning of a dedicated group of volunteers, we learned about the rich history and varied traditions of Diwali in the very best possible way: by taking part in a Rangoli decorating contest in our Toronto office.

Rangoli is a stunning art form that celebrates goodness and peace and is used to welcome visitors to private homes and businesses.

We proudly displayed our homegrown Rangolis for all to see during our Diwali Celebration luncheon, featuring delicious Thali boxes prepared by Brampton’s own Bombay Palace. And of course, our office felt the warm glow of lights that are synonymous with this very special occasion.

The central message of Diwali is to celebrate the victory of light over darkness, good over evil and positivity over negativity, which is a welcome message indeed.

By joining in, we once again demonstrated that at First National, diversity, knowledge and respect for all are in our nature.
